While it's hard to pinpoint the moment the "digital revolution" began, I can certainly claim to have been involved in the very early days: when people committed to and were able to "read everything on the internet", when most web pages were crafted by hand and when there were webcams devoted to monitoring coffee machines. Here are some of the industries and places I have worked in:
Over the years, I have worked with a wide variety of organisations, and one common thread that runs through everything I have done is to support organisations through the journey of becoming more digital, starting wherever they are at that point in time. So in some cases, it was helping create or improve a website, in other cases, it was supporting them to develop their digital vision and strategy. Another constant is the approach: I believe it is important to be collaborative, user-centred and focussed on achieving the best outcome.
Most recently, I have trained as a coach. I work with people in technology to find their confidence and their sense of what fulfils them in order to achieve their full potential. Confidence is something we were all born with and we all have situations that we face with no fear every day. But sometimes, usually important times, it can get overpowered by our fears and our self belief suddenly eludes us when we need it most. I can support you to disempower the fears and build up your confidence muscle so that you can be and do whatever you set your mind to!
And working out what we really want (as opposed to what we should want) is possibly the most liberating feeling in the world. You will re-discover your inner compass that helps you confidently navigate your life, giving you clear signals of what to do - and not do - that will never let you down.
